Brent Marshall

For over 30 years Brent Marshall has contributed to the visual arts through his photography, painting, and design, amassing a catalogue of tens of thousands of images.

Born in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, Brent’s earliest influences began in his teenage years, being tutored early on by his sister “Tia”, a graduate of the “Ivy School of Professional Art” and an accomplished painter. His photographic skills developed with the mentoring of photographer Jerry Weinburg, emphasizing black and white photography and the wet printing process.

From Pittsburgh, Brent’s adventures in life took him to West Palm Beach, Florida for most of the 1970’s, where he continued his art and perfected the craft of painting cars in order to pay the bills. This skill took him on to Las Vegas, Nevada, where he owned and operated auto paint and body shops, continued to photograph, paint, and design various projects, and raised his daughter, Capri.

In 2004 Brent retired from the auto body industry and moved to a houseboat in Sausalito, California to pursue his passions in art full time. Brent combines multiple photographic skills utilizing both film (Canon EOS A2E), and digital (Canon / Sony) formats. He keeps current on ever-evolving technological advances in the arts through courses at College of Marin.

Brent’s first official public showing of his photography took place at the August 9, 2006 Sausalito Art Walk, where he was well received by the warm Sausalito community. His work is currently on display in various locations (see current events).

Brent continues to hone his “art of photography” through constant field work. His photographic viewpoints capture our lives and our surroundings in touching and thought provoking ways.
